New Papers from the Edmonds Institute
******************************************

At the recent Intergovernmental Committee for the Cartagena Protocol on  Biosafety, held in Montpellier, France, th Edmonds Institute distributed several papers, including:

(a) Agricultural Biowarfare and Bioterrorism - an occasional paper by Dr.  Mark Wheelis, Section of Microbiology, University of California-Davis -  examining the potential goals of agricultural biowarfare, who might engage in such activity, what the consequences might be, how it might work and how genetic technology might change that, which states are at risk, and how it all might be deterred - This paper is now available for downloading on our website at <http://www.edmonds-institute.org>

(b) Biohazards: The Next Generation: Crops That Manufacture Industrial and Pharmaceutical Proteins - a draft preliminary report compiled by Brian Tokar [pdf]

(c) An alert about the minimum information companies necessary for  importing countries to be sure that the GMOs they receive contain only  what they expect and nothing more [pdf]

****************************

If you want hard copies of any of the papers, send us an envelope and  sufficient postage for us to mail it to you. The Wheelis occasional paper  is printed on the equivalent of 8 pages. The alert is one page and the  biohazards paper is printed on the equivalent of 5 pages.

Please, if you intend to forward this notice to others, do not add your  address and email details in ways that obscure where the information  originally comes from. We have been contacted by several people lately who have had considerable difficulty discerning the original source of  information they have received. Thank you for being considerate in this  regard.
