I am deeply concerned about the Agricultural Committee's debate on the future of GMO. We will all be affected by the decisions to be made as an outcome of this debate, which is why I am now writing to request your answer to the questions in the below letter.

I look forward to receiving your response.

How many of your constituents asked you to support the increase of GMO in European agriculture and food?

In what respect are science based decisions on GMO meeting European citizens' needs better than public opinion based decisions?

What independent analysis have you read:

a) showing European competitiveness criteria will be better met by biotechnologies' prospects?

b) concerning the mid-term and long-term performance of GMO and their effects on other crops, the environment and human/animal health?

Do you support the "coexistence" of GM and non- GM crops?

What evidence do you have that genetically modified organisms will not cross contaminate other crops/plants in, and beyond, the area in which they are planted?

What steps are you recommending to farmers whose crops become contaminated by genetically modified organisms?
