HYDERABAD: The Bt cotton cultivation has creating several problems related to increase in pests, diseases and economic losses for the farmers, the jury said here on January 21.

The jury comprises of Mr Justice B. S. A. Swami, a retired High Court judge, Mr V. Hanumantha Rao, a senior journalist, Prof. K R Chowdhary, a noted agriculture scientist and Member of the Farmers' Welfare Commission, Mr S. Malla Reddy, President of the CPM-affiliated AP Rythu Sangam and Dr Kodandaram, a political science teacher and human rights activist.

Further the jury explains that the case fought by government against the company will not solve the problem, as the approval for the release of Bt cotton was sanctioned without consulting the scientific on testing field.

The jury urged the cancellation of all approvals instantly and to study the disadvantage of the Bt cotton. Further also gave some suggestions which include strengthening of institutional credit and improving agricultural extension services.

A scientist working for Nuziveedu Seeds cleared that there should not be any stoppage for the development of transgenic technology as it will help in evolving the perfect solution for the problem.
